Yesterday evening Mike and I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Tomenko family at the beautiful Brookside Botanical Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland. Keri was in my violin pedagogy class at the University of Maryland, and is now happily married with a beautiful 15-month old son. Nikolai wasn’t interested in the camera – AT ALL! He was interested in running, climbing, exploring, and doing all these things by himself – no interest at all in looking at the camera or sitting still for a family portrait. So we chased, we squatted (my quads feel like they’ve been through a Crossfit workout!) and we snapped away. I have to say, I’m thrilled with the outcome. The evening light was delicious, the family beautiful – what more could you ask for?
Despite Nikolai’s best efforts, we did get a couple of great family portraits!
