Pregnancy is hard, there’s no two ways about it. Even an “easy” pregnancy isn’t easy. From nausea to heartburn, insomnia to back pain, building a new person is not for the faint of heart. But every time I see a pregnant woman I think “beautiful.” I love imagining baby snuggled up inside the round belly, cozy and happy. The shape of a pregnant belly, cradling that little one, is all about love. Love that grows and expands to make room for this wiggly new person, love that will put up with all the difficulties of pregnancy in order to bring this baby into the world.
A week ago I got to hang out with beautiful mama-to-be, Celeste, her husband and daughter, and some beautiful beautiful morning light. (You can see why I prefer to do portrait sessions at sunrise, right?) In just a couple of weeks I will be on call to photograph the birth of this little one. They don’t know whether baby is a boy or girl – they had two ultrasounds telling them two different things! So it’s with a lot of anticipation that they are looking forward to baby’s birth day.
