After missing Vida’s birth by mere seconds, I offered to come back the next day and capture some “first48” images for Marco and Sharon. A first 48 session is many things. It can be a beautiful follow up to a birth story session, after everyone has had a chance to get a shower and some sleep. It can also be an alternative to having your birth documented if you’re not comfortable with that or want to save some pennies. Either way, it is always amazing me to photograph a new human who is only 24-48 hours old. They are so fresh, so pink and wrinkly, so inquisitive and tired and absolutely beautiful all at once. I absolutely loved this hour I spent with Marco and Sharon in their hospital room capturing their snuggles with Vida and Jethro. It’s a moment in your family history that passes oh-so-fast, and I just love giving them these images to look back on.
